Prof. Baozhang Chen

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China

Biography:

Professor Baozhang Chen is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences New Zealand (RASNZ) and a Professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), CAS. A recipient of the CAS "Hundred Talents Program," he previously served as the Chief Scientist for the National Meteorological Administration’s Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Center. Prof. Chen is a pioneer in Earth system modeling and carbon cycle research. He developed China's first sky-ground dual-carbon digital twin simulator and high-resolution carbon assimilation systems (CT-China, 3-GAS, RCAS), enabling provincial and city-level carbon accounting for national carbon neutrality assessments. In paleoecology, he identified 8,000-year-old rice cultivation remains at the Jiahu site, marking the earliest known history of rice domestication. He has led over 20 national key R&D projects, authored over 200 papers in journals like Nature Communications, and holds multiple national invention patents.

Prof. Francesco Benedetto

Biography:

Francesco Benedetto was born in Rome, Italy, on August 4th, 1977. He received the Dr. Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of ROMA TRE, Rome, Italy, in May 2002, and the PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of ROMA TRE, Rome, Italy, in April 2007. In 2007, he was a research fellow of the Department of Applied Electronics of the Third University of Rome. In 2008, he became an Assistant Professor of Telecommunications at the Third University of Rome (2008-2012, Applied Electronics Dept.; 2013-Present, Economics Dept.). In 2017, He unanimously received the National Academic Qualification as an Associate Professor of Telecommunications, and since 2019 He is an Associate Professor of Telecommunications at the same University, where he currently teaches the course of “Elements of Telecommunications” (formerly Signals and Telecommunications) in the Computer Engineering degree, the course of “Software Defined Radio” in the Laurea Magistralis in Information and Communication Technologies, and the course of “Lab. of statistical analysis systems” in the Laurea Magistralis of the School in Economics and Business Studies.Since the academic year 2013/2014, He is also in charge of the course of “Cognitive Communications” in the Ph.D. degree in Applied Electronics at the Department of Engineering, University of Roma Tre. He is a Senior Member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and an active member of the following IEEE Societies: IEEE Standard Association, IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Software Defined Networks, IEEE Communications, IEEE Signal Processing, IEEE Vehicular Technology. Finally, He is also a member of CNIT (Italian Inter-Universities Consortium for Telecommunications).His research interests are in the field of ground penetrating radar, software and cognitive radio, digital signal and image processing for telecommunications and economics, code acquisition, and synchronization for the 3G mobile communication systems and multimedia communication. Since 2016, he has been the Chair of the IEEE 1900.1 working group on “Definitions and Concepts for Dynamic Spectrum Access: Terminology Relating to Emerging Wireless Networks, System Functionality, and Spectrum Management.” He is the Leader of the WP 3.4 on “Development of Advanced GPR Data Processing Technique” of the European COST Action TU1208– Civil Engineering Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar. He is an Editor of the IEEE SDN NEWSLETTER, was the General Chair of the Series of International Workshops on Signal Processing for Secure Communications (SP4SC-2014, 2015, and 2016), and the Lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue on Advanced Ground Penetrating Radar Signal Processing Techniques for the Signal Processing Journal (Elsevier). He also served as a Reviewer for several IEEE TRANSACTIONS, the IET (formerly IEE) Proceedings, EURASIP, and the ELSEVIER journals. He was a TPC Member for several IEEE international conferences and symposia in the same fields.

Prof. Min Chen

Nanjing Normal University, China

Biography:

Prof. Min Chen is a leading scholar at Nanjing Normal University and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He currently serves as the President of CPGIS and Vice President of iEMSs. Renowned for spearheading the OpenGMS platform, Prof. Chen has significantly advanced the international standing of geographic modeling research in China. His contributions have earned him fellowships from the iEMSs, AAG, and RGS, as well as the Austrian Academy of Sciences Tobler Young Scientist Award. His research achievements were notably selected as top advances in both Geography (2021) and China's Land Economy (2023).

Prof. Feng Zhou

Hohai University, China

Biography:

Prof. Feng Zhou is a Professor and the Dean of the School of Geography and Remote Sensing at Hohai University. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the "Chang Jiang Scholars" Young Scholar Award. He also serves as the Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Watershed Soil and Water Processes. Prof. Zhou holds several leadership positions, including Council Member of the Geographical Society of China, Chair of the Nitrogen Cycling Committee of the Chinese Society of Soil Science, and Associate Editor for five international SCI journals, including Global Biogeochemical Cycles. Dedicated to researching watershed soil and water processes, Prof. Zhou has led 11 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (including the Distinguished Young Scholars and Key Programs) and two National Key R&D projects. He has published over 140 SCI papers, with 20 appearing in prestigious journals such as Nature, PNAS, Nature Water, and Nature Food. His work has been recognized with the First Class Prize for Science and Technology Progress from the Ministry of Education and multiple provincial awards.

Assoc. Prof. Bin He

Tsinghua University, China

Biography:

Assoc. Prof. Bin He is a Tenured Associate Professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Earth System Science. Specializing in ecosystem resilience and carbon cycles, he has led multiple NSFC projects and published over 50 papers in top-tier journals including Nature Climate Change, Nature Geoscience, and Science Advances. His recent work was selected as one of the "Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances in China's Ecological Environment" (2024).
